About this trip
For the curious traveller who wants more than the famous names. This thirteen-day journey travels the Nile valley site by site, from Dahshur's Red Pyramid and the collapsed pyramid of Meidum to Tell el-Amarna, the lost city of Akhenaten and Nefertiti.
You see the painted tombs of Beni Hassan, the exquisite reliefs of Seti I at Abydos and Hathor's blue ceiling at Dendera, then sail from Luxor to Aswan and reach Abu Simbel. Places few visitors ever see, explained by an Egyptologist who loves them as much as you will.

Cross the Nile to the capital that Akhenaten and Nefertiti built for one god, the sun disk Aten. The northern palace, the boundary stela and the rock tombs of his courtiers, with their rare scenes of royal family life.
The painted rock tombs of Beni Hassan, where Middle Kingdom nobles left scenes of wrestlers, hunters and daily life. Then Hermopolis and the catacombs of Tuna el-Gebel, with the tomb of Petosiris.
Drive south to Abydos, the holy city of Osiris. The temple of Seti I has some of the finest carved reliefs in Egypt and the famous list of kings, and behind it lies the mysterious Osireion. Night beside the temple.
The temple of Hathor at Dendera, with its blue astronomical ceiling and the rooftop chapels. On to Luxor to board your Nile cruise, then Karnak and Luxor Temple in the late afternoon.
Three tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, with an optional sunrise balloon first. Back on board for lunch as the boat sails south to Edfu.
