About this trip
Most visitors see Abu Simbel for two hurried hours. You will sleep beside it. This journey takes you from the pyramids to Luxor, down the Nile valley by car to Aswan, and across the desert to spend a night at the temples of Ramses II.
Watch the sound and light show on the façade after dark, then see the colossi glow in the first morning light before the day visitors arrive. Add Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings, Edfu and Kom Ombo on the road, Philae, and a last day in historic Cairo with the royal mummies.

Day by day
On arrival, your personal assistant is waiting for you, helps you with the visa and airport formalities, and takes you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free.
A morning on the Giza Plateau: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, a walk inside the Pyramid of Khafre to its burial chamber, the panoramic viewpoint over the pyramids, and the Sphinx with its Valley Temple. Lunch with a view of the pyramids, then the Grand Egyptian Museum, where the complete treasure of Tutankhamun is displayed together for the first time.
An early flight to Luxor, ancient Thebes. Cross to the West Bank while the air is still cool for the Valley of the Kings, with three royal tombs and the tomb of Tutankhamun, then the terraced temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. In the afternoon, the East Bank: the great hypostyle hall of Karnak and Luxor Temple. In the evening, the Karnak sound and light show is available as an option.
For an unforgettable start, an optional hot-air balloon flight over the West Bank at sunrise. Then a private drive south along the Nile to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the best preserved in Egypt, and the riverside double temple of Kom Ombo, arriving in Aswan in the late afternoon.
A motorboat ride to the island temple of Philae, dedicated to Isis, and a visit to the Unfinished Obelisk in the ancient granite quarries. In the afternoon, a three-hour drive through the Nubian desert to Abu Simbel. After dark, the sound and light show brings the temple facades to life. Overnight by Lake Nasser.
See the temples of Ramses II and Nefertari in the early morning light, before the day visitors arrive. Return to Aswan for your flight to Cairo. The evening is yours, or add a dinner cruise on the Nile.
A final day in historic Cairo: Saladin's Citadel and the Muhammad Ali Mosque, the royal mummies at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, and the Khan el-Khalili bazaar, with koshary for lunch. In the evening, your personal assistant accompanies you to the airport for your night flight home.
